- Often the largest employer in most rural communities, health
care accounts for at least 10% of total employment.
- Considering secondary benefits, the health care sector accounts
for 15% to 20% of all jobs in most rural communities.
- Hospitals are often the second largest employer in many rural
counties.
- On average, every dollar spent at home on health care re-circulates
within the community one-and-a-half times.
- Every five jobs generated within the health sector results
in four additional jobs within the community.
- For all rural counties in the state of Illinois, the health
care system generates an average of $12,355,250 in revenue from Medicare Part
A and Medicare Part B reimbursements.
- Studies have shown that schools and health services have
the greatest impact upon the decisions made by businesses to locate or stay
in a certain area.
- Studies have shown that safety and health services have the
